Costume Jewelry

I thought I would share some fun pieces of jewelry with you. Last year I saw this post by Alicia Paulson, blogger/artist extraordinaire and thought I would treat myself to a charm bracelet for one of those hard to swallow birthdays. Jodi Bloom of So Charmed makes bracelets, necklaces, pins, and earrings with super cute vintage and new charms. She now has an etsy store as well! I've never seen anything like her work. If you order a custom piece from her, truly a very special gift, she will treat you and your beloved masterpiece with the utmost care and concern. She takes her time and really gets to know you so she can capture the exact vibe you're looking for. It was such a joy working with her; I didn't want the process to end, and I treasure my charm bracelet so much. Each charm holds special meaning for me and reflects a certain essence of my personality. A little like palm reading...analyze the charms and get to know about a person's desires and dreams and history. Hopefully, I'll hand it down to my daughter one day.

Many of you may already know about the fabulous two sisters and mom team called the Junk Gypsies. They have been featured in Country Living and a slew of other home decorating magazines. Hailing from College Station, TX (where I and all my siblings attended college...yeehaw), these stylin' junksters offer loads of flea market inspiration on their website, not to mention some sassy costume jewelry for your inner cowgirl.

These have been around for a while, but are still fun to wear. Dillon Rogers makes leather bracelets and other goodies with positive phrases or symbols on them. You can even have one made with your sweetheart's name on it or a special message of your own. As you can see, I have worn mine out!

This royalty ring was made by the talented Phoenix Forrester of Albuquerque, NM. A vintage porcelain doll head with a silver crown and a big honkin' jewel underneath and you've got a conversation piece with a definite sense of humor. This ring is not for wallflowers!

Another fun website for a little girl in your life or your own inner kiddo is Pancake Meow. Leslie, the creator of these delightful polymer clay charms, will not only let you choose the flavors/colors of your ice cream scoops, she'll let you choose the scents as well. That's right. They are scented! Whether you are a donut with sprinkles, cupcake, or chocolate chip cookie kind of girl, she's got you covered. So fun to wear a sweet treat around your neck in the summertime!

That's what costume jewelry is all about for me...fun. Something to make me smile and maybe bring a smile to someone else's face. Because, really, isn't that what life is all about?
